Date: 21st May 2017
Sunday 21st May 2017. This is a level 4 walk with sustained, exposed, Grade 2 scrambling across about 1 km of ridge. The entire day will take between 7 and 10 hours to complete. Before tackling this route, you should have
experience of other ridge walks and be comfortable with exposure.
the narrowest ridge on the UK mainland and definitely a day to remember
traversing high above Glen Coe on the crazy pinnacles. The two Munros of
Sgorr nam Fiannaidh and Meall Dearg are taken in enroute.
I prefer to traverse west to east as, on occasion, some people have retreated from the descent of the bad step on Am Bodach and the day is over before it has begun. We will ascend this feature, a much easier prospect. The downside to this direction of travel is the hefty ascent to Sgorr nam Fiannaidh at the beginning of the day. This route also means we need to place a vehicle at end of the ridge for our return.
We will meet at 0830 at the car park of the Clachaig Inn, Glencoe, PH49 4HX.
In the event of inclement weather where safety is compromised, an alternative scramble in Glen Coe will be substituted.
Cost of this days scrambling is £75 per person (maximum group size 4)
