Date: 26th May 2018
Saturday 26th to Monday 28th May 2018
This is a level 4 walk and camping expedition in some of the remotest and beautiful scenery in the West Highlands where you will be carrying a full rucksack including camping gear to be self sufficient for the duration.
The 12 Munros of the Mullardoch Round are a Scottish Classic.
You will need to have a good level of fitness for this walk which is a mixture of estate paths, rough track, wet bog and a river crossing with no bridges. These are big mountain days in extremely remote countryside and should not be underestimated. If you have any questions or reservations about your fitness and ability to achieve this walk, please contact me to discuss.
Day one - Starting our walk from the car park at the south side of the Loch Mullardoch dam, we will walk north and ascend Carn Gobhar on rough, pathless ground. With the 1st Munro completed we follow the ridge west for the next 10km, finishing on Munro number four for the day, An Socach and descending to the west end of Loch Mullardoch before crossing the river and setting camp for the night.
Day two - From our camp we will head up the side of the Allt Cam into Coire Aird from where we will regain the ridge and head up to Munro number 1 for the day, Mullach na Dheiragain. Follow the ridge crossing another three Munros before camping high on a bealach either before or after Mam Sodhail, depending on how the group is feeling after another big day. Once camp is set, we may decide to head out to the outlying Munro, Beinn Fhionnlaidh, lightened of our packs, it's an easy prospect.
Day three - Break camp and head immediately up Carn Eighe and onwards for the final three Munros, finishing the round on Toll Creagach before descending back to the car park at the dam.
A truly magnificent three days.
If you require to borrow some gear for this trip, please contact me beforehand. I have tents, sleeping bags, rucksacks and stoves.
We will meet at 0800 at the www.bogcottoncafe.co.uk Cannich caravan and camping park, Beauly IV4 7LN They serve breakfast.
Ideally we would organise car share in advance to minimise our environmental impact.
