Date: 2nd January 2018
Monday 2nd January 2018 at 0830. A level 3 walk of about 14k taking between 6 and 8 hours.
Stob a'Choire Odhair is accessed from Victoria Bridge and has possibly the finest views of Rannoch Moor of any of the Black Mount peaks. Initially on a good path, this soon gives way to a steep climb onto the shoulder before the path disappears about 300m from the summit.
Given the time of year this is very likely going to be a winter mountaineering day and you will need to be prepared with crampons, ice axe, head torch and goggles, as well as appropriate clothing and adequate food\water. See the 'What do I need?' page on the website for more information. Please also be aware that winter mountaineering requires a higher level of fitness than summer hillwalking. Contact me in advance of the day if you have any questions.
B2 boots, ice axe and crampons can be hired from outdoor shops such as Tiso.
We will meet at the public car park beside the Bridge of Orchy Hotel, PA36 4AD at 0830 for a weather and kit check before driving round the single track road to the car park near Victoria Bridge to begin the walk.
Cost is only £30 per person (maximum group size is 6)
