Date: 17th August 2019
Saturday 17th August 2019. Meet at 10am in the car park beside Falkland Library, Back Wynd, Falkland, Fife, KY15 7BX.
This one-day navigation course is aimed at those who are considering buying a GPS unit or already own a GPS unit and would like to understand how to use it in the field. We will cover the use of a smartphone as a basic GPS unit as well as other models. This practical course includes some theory on how a GPS unit works and how we can best use it to compliment our existing navigation skills.
The aim of the day is that you will leave the course with the basic skills to navigate by GPS using waypoints, routes and tracks, and understand how you can use software to buy additional maps, send user data like routes and tracks to and from your device by attaching it to a home computer.
This course is predominantly outdoor, there is no planned classroom work involved, please dress and equip yourself for a day on the hills and bring any food and drink you may need. See the What do I need? link above for more information or contact me in advance should you have any questions.
A certificate of competence will be issued to those who complete the course.
The cost of this one-day basic GPS course is £60 per person
Places are limited to eight only, please book quickly to avoid disappointment.
