Date: 10th August 2019
Saturday 10th August 2019 meeting at 0800 at Keiloch.
This is a level 4 walk, fairly easy ground on mainly good, well maintained paths but with the total distance being some 41 km and with only 1,200m of ascent across the duration. The challenge is being able to go the distance as it will take between 10 and 12 hours to complete this long day and your stamina will be tested.
Ben Avon and Beinn a' Bhuird are the easternmost Munros on the Cairngorm plateau and are huge hills characterised by the huge granite torrs that can be seen from afar. This route is the shortest walk in to Ben Avon and is a linear route, out and back, along Gleann an Slugain.
We will meet in the car park at Keiloch, Invercauld, Ballater AB35 5TW which is just off the A93, 6 km outside Braemar. Watch out for the bridge crossing the River Dee (if coming from Braemar) and it's a left turn about 300m beyond.
Braemar is well served with Hotels, B&B's and camping. There is also a youth hostel where you can get 10% off your stay by using my discount code, King-19
Cost is only £35 per person (maximum group size is 10)
Why not make a weekend of it and join us for Sundays walk on Carn a'Mhaim, Ben Macdui and Derry Cairngorm - https://www.kingdomguides.co.uk/product/carn-amhaim
