Date: 9th September 2018
Sunday 9th September 2018. This is a level 2 walk of about 18 km on fairly straightforward terrain, high on the plateau above Glen Lyon with extensive views of Rannoch Moor and the Lawers range. We will be taking in the four munros of Carn Gorm, Meall Garbh, Carn Mairg and Creag Mhor.
The Glen Lyon circuit is a fairly straightforward day as once on the plateau there is not a great deal of height loss between the four Munros, meaning good progress can be made between the summits and it doesn't feel like a 18 km day in the mountains because of this, however, navigation can be challenging in poor weather on such a high, featureless plateau and care should be taken.
We will meet at the car park by the telephone box at Invervar at 9am. To get there from the A9, drive along the A827 to Grandtully. Cross the bridge to Strathtay to Weem. Continue to Keltyburn, turn off towards Fortingall, then just outside the village, turn into Glen Lyon and it's about 4 miles or so along this road to Invervar. Look for the phone box and the car park is down to the left. PH15 2PL for sat navs will bring you along the road past the phone box.
Once finished, there is an option to drop into the Fortingall Hotel for coffee & cake and to continue the banter.
Cost is only £35 per person (maximum group size is 8)
