Date: 12th August 2018
Sunday 12th August 2018 meeting at 0900. A Level 3 walk with a total distance of about 25 km, usually taking between 7 and 9 hours.
We start on good tracks into the Glen which then gives way to a boggy ascent of the first Munro Carn Dearg. After a short descent we walk up onto the Monadh Liath plateau which is fairly featureless and can be challenging to navigate in poor visibility. It's a long walk across the plateau to the second Munro, Carn Sgulain before a quick descent and re-ascent up onto the final Munro, A' Chailleach. We now descend back into Newtonmore.
We will meet at 0900 outside the Newtonmore Grill, Old Perth Road, Newtonmore, PH20 1BB. (The grill opens at 0800 if you want breakfast) where we will get into as few cars as possible before driving into Newtonmore itself and onto the start of the walk.
There are a large variety of accommodation options available in Newtonmore including several Hotels and B&B's. Previous clients have used the www.newtonmorehostel.co.uk and the www.strathspeymountainhostel.com
Cost is only £35 per person (maximum group size is 8)
