Date: 28th September 2019
Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September 2019
The Strathfarrar four Munros are a level 4 walk in some of the remotest and most beautiful scenery in the West Highlands where you will need to be fit and capable of potentially 10 hours of walking and 25 km distance with about 1,500m of ascent. The Glen Affric Munros are an easier day, a level 3 walk of about 17 km and 1,100m of ascent, a nice way to round of the weekend.
You will need to have a good level of fitness for these walks which is a mixture of estate paths, rough track and wet bog. These are big mountain days in extremely remote countryside and should not be underestimated. If you have any questions or reservations about your fitness and ability to achieve this walk, please contact me to discuss.
The Strathfarrar four are our main priority and we will choose the best weather day for these. Vehicular access to the Munros is controlled by the estate and we will want to be at the head of the queue first thing in the morning to ensure we can get in. We will want to be there for 0845, leaving Cannich at 0815. This will give us the maximum time to complete this circular route of 25 km with over 1,500m of ascent.
The second day of the trip will be spent on Tom a' Choinich and Toll Creagach, the eastern two Munros on the ridge of eight along the northern edge of Glen Affric, one of Scotland's most beautiful Glens. These two have vehicle access with a new car park and access path having been built recently. They are still very wet and boggy in the lower reaches with some streams to be crossed that can be tricky in spate. The views are wonderful in all directions, especially North over the Mullardochs.
We will meet at 0800 at the www.bogcottoncafe.co.uk Cannich Caravan and Camping Park, Beauly, IV4 7LN on each morning where we will transfer into just two or three vehicles, leaving the remainder here. We will then drive the 30 minutes or so to the start point of each days walk.
Ideally we would organise car share in advance to minimise our environmental impact.
Cost is only £100 per person (maximum group size is 8) Book early to avoid disappointment.
Previous clients have stayed at the Cannich Caravan and Camping Park.
